At any rate, with a leather whip tucked beneath her arm, the footballer certainly wouldn't want to annoy her.

The young mother is a picture of authority in her new £4.5million advertising campaign for Littlewoods.com.

The advert features a stern Coleen overseeing recruits learning to carry a handbag, polish their shoes and strut the catwalk.

It ends with her conducting a 'passing-out parade' to the tune of Nancy Sinatra's These Boots Are Made for Walkin'.

Coleen said: 'This is my first TV ad and I really enjoyed making it.

'I loved the way that the ad features such a wide variety of real women and shows some of my favourite pieces from the Littlewoods collection.'

Mail order company Littlewoods launched Rooney as its new 'face' in June.

She has appeared on the cover of the retailer's catalogue and on the website.

The advert will be shown on ITV for the first time today.

With thousands of Hollywood stars living in Los Angeles, the likelihood of two bumping into each other is higher than average.

So it's no wonder Kate Beckinsale didn't look too surprised when she bumped into actress Brooke Shields as she took daughter Lily to get her nails done.

The 37-year-old actress decided to treat nine-year-old Lily to some pampering at the Nail Spa Lane in Santa Monica when she ran into Brooke, who was there with her own daughters Rowan, seven, and four-year-old Grier.

Kate, who was recently named the third hottest mother in Hollywood in a new poll, looked relaxed and casual in her outfit of a white long-sleeved T-shirt and grey skinny jeans.

She even came prepared for the occasion, switching her heels for flip-flops to ensure her pedicure remained in tact as she left the salon.

But it was just a pedicure for Brooke, who has her right hand bandaged up after breaking it during rehearsals for new musical Leap Of Faith.

'The cast will be off before previews on September 11. It was a minor break and did not affect the production schedule.'

Brooke is set to star alongside actor Raul Esparaza in the musical, which tells the story of con artist Jonas Nightingale as he moves to Kansas.

While the local sheriff is determined to stop Nightingale taking advantage of the locals, everything changes when he meets waitress Marva, played by Brooke, and her son.

The show is due to officially open on October 3rd at Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre.

The 17-year-old star was all smiles as she and mother Tish dashed through the terminal in New York .

Miley was in her usual attire of denim cut offs and transparent T-shirt, with her lacy black bra visible beneath. She added a long black cardigan, colourful bag and a pair of Alexander McQueen zipper boots.

Perhaps her latest film LOL: Laughing Out Loud is influencing her outlook, because despite speaking publicly on how smitten she was with Australian Liam, Miley was flashing her toothy grin all the way through the airport.

And while the couple, who met on the set of The Last Song, only parted ways last week, rumours are already rife that Miley may have started yet another on-set romance.
Blogs are buzzing with speculation that Miley is hooking up with Step Up 3D actor Adam Sevani.

Reports are claiming that while the 18-year-old curly haired cutie and Miley are not dating, they are 'friends with benefits'.

All American boys: David Beckham and his boys embrace their adopted home's favourite sport by taking in a baseball game

Take us to the ball game, Dad: David Beckham takes his sons and friend Gordon Ramsay to watch the Los Angeles Angels play at Anaheim stadium


They have made Los Angeles their home, and the Beckhams seem keen for their boys to embrace the American lifestyle.

And despite being one of the world's most famous football players, David has been busy ensuring his three sons appreciate some of their adopted country's most loved sports.

He sits front-row with the boys to watch his beloved LA Lakers basketball team play, and has been spotted coaching them in American football.

And this week, Beckham drove for over an hour from his home in Beverly Hills with Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz to catch a baseball game at the Anaheim stadium.

They were joined by close friend Gordon Ramsay and his ten-year-old son Jack, as well as a bodyguard, to watch the Los Angeles Angels play the Baltimore Orioles.

The VIPs met the team players after the match, and emerged from the stadium with autographed baseballs and giant foam hands.

The enthusiastic fans were decked out head to toe in Angels gear, and even stylish David, 35, who wore a trendy 'Faith of Silence' tee from fashion designer Seven New York, donned a bright red team cap.

Scene-stealer Romeo, seven, led the group out of the Anaheim stadium and despite their team losing 1-0, seemed in great spirits, waving his baseball triumphantly.

His older brother Brooklyn, 11, didn't want to be left out and raced to get to the front of the group, while five-year-old Cruz trailed behind, as chef Gordon waited for him to catch up.

The Ramsays, close friends of the Beckhams, are visiting LA and the families were spotted last week enjoying the sunshine at a £3.2 million Malibu beachfront mansion.

With Romeo's eighth birthday coming up on Wednesday, they could easily have made a stop for some fun at Disneyland, which is located just five kilometres down the road.

Victoria Beckham and Tana Ramsay chose not to join in on the excursion - Victoria has allowed David to drag her along to basketball games in the past, but perhaps her previous affiliation with rival baseball team the LA Dodgers kept her away.

The 36-year-old famously wore high-heeled trainers to throw the opening pitch for the Dodgers shortly after her move stateside move in 2007. It was filmed as part of her reality show Victoria Beckham: Coming to America.

David may be testing his loyalties after a disappointing few months with his first love football.

The injured midfielder looked visibly frustrated watching his team the LA Galaxy from a private sky box days before his ball park outing.

Relegated to the sideline because of his torn Achilles tendon, David hung his head as they were beaten 2-0 by the Kansas City Wizards.

His lingering injury, which prevented him from playing in the World Cup, is likely to keep him out of action for most of the season.

Things are looking up back home though, as England boss Fabio Capello seems to have had a change of heart after announcing Beckham's England career was over.

David was said to be 'devastated' by the sudden news, but Capello told the News of the World: 'First Beckham has to be playing again but the door is always open. We're monitoring all the players.

'Once he recovers and is in really good condition, we will have a chat.

'I think the future is with the youth but after that, I will decide which players to choose.

'We know the value of the different older players. The future is with the young players because we have to think about the Euros, but no player is out.'

They're two of the biggest shows on television right now, so it was no surprise to see Glee and Mad Men picking up a host of coveted awards at the Emmys last night.

Musical comedy Glee received three accolades at the Los Angeles ceremony, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for Jane Lynch, for her performance as caustic coach Sue Sylvester.

The show also picked Best Director of a Comedy Series for creator Ryan Murphy, but missed out on the coveted Best Comedy gong to Modern Family.

The hugely popular musical show also received an award for Outstanding Guest Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who played Brian Ryan, Will Schuester's (Matthew Morrison) old high school glee club nemesis.

Mad Men made it a third consecutive win for the prestigious best drama series at last night's 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, with Erin Levy and Matthew Weiner also receiving a trophy for outstanding writing for the show, set in 1960s America.

But the bigger winner last night was TV film Temple Grandin, which led the haul with five gongs.

The made-for-TV biopic stars Claire Danes as autistic animal scientist Temple Grandin who revolutionised practises for the humane handling of livestock on cattle ranches and slaughterhouses.

Danes won the gong for best actress in a TV movie, with the flick also being honoured in the category for best director (Mick Jackson), best movie, and nods for David Strathairn and Julia Ormond for their roles as supporting actor and actress.

The film debuted on HBO in February and received overwhelmingly positive reviews.

An emotional Temple Grandin, who was also celebrating her birthday, was there in person and appeared onstage with the cast as the film raked in its awards.

Mockumentary Modern Family was named Best Comedy, beating Glee, The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock and Nurse Jackie to the title.

To our fans, we are so grateful, we are so thrilled that families are sitting down together to watch a television show, and we're so happy that you have let us into your families,' said Steven Levitan, Modern Family executive producer.

The best comedy series award was the first for the freshman sitcom, which also captured an acting award for Eric Stonestreet and a best writing trophy.

Mad Men's series creator Matthew Weiner seemed to take the night in his stride.

'I knew one day I would run somewhere and win a trophy,' Weiner joked earlier in the ceremony when he dashed to the stage to claim the Emmy for best drama series writing with Erin Levy.

Bryan Cranston's portrayal of a meth dealer in 'Breaking Bad' and Kyra Sedgwick's role as a brassy deputy police chief in 'The Closer' earned the pair top drama series acting awards.

Cranston's honor was his third trophy for playing a high school math teacher gone wrong, while his co-star, Aaron Paul, earned his first award as best supporting actor for playing his partner-in-crime.

'During the time it took me to walk up here, I venture there were 200 text messages to the other nominees saying, 'You were robbed.' I cannot argue with that,' Cranston said.

Archie Panjabi of 'The Good Wife' was honoured as best supporting actress in a drama for her part as a law-firm's in-house private investigator, as Emmy voters spread the riches widely among veterans and fresh faces.

Edie Falco of 'Nurse Jackie' and Jim Parsons of 'The Big Bang Theory' were honoured for their comedy series lead roles.

Falco's trophy for playing a tough but troubled nurse came after her hallmark turn as a mob boss' wife in 'The Sopranos,' for which she won three best drama actress Emmys.

Parsons won for his portrayal of a scientist as nerdy as he is brilliant. He ended fellow nominee Alec Baldwin's two-year winning streak for '30 Rock' and beat out other heavyweights including Tony Shalhoub, nominated for the final season of 'Monk' and a three-time winner, and Steve Carell of 'The Office.'

'Now I know how much I didn't think this was going to happen. Some of you apparently voted for me. That was very sweet,' Parsons told the theatre audience.

Stonestreet of 'Modern Family' and Lynch of 'Glee' were honoured for their comedy-series supporting roles.

'All I wanted to be was a clown in the circus when I was a kid growing up,' said Stonestreet, who plays a boisterous gay dad and partner. He thanked his parents for their support and promised to send his trophy home with them.

Lynch also thanked her folks along with her wife, Lara Embry. The pair married in Massachusetts in May.

Clooney, recalling evenings spent with Bob and Dolores Hope at the home of his aunt, singer Rosemary Clooney, said he was inspired by the late comedian and his wife, now 101.

'If you look at everything they accomplished in their lives ... They're the best version of the term 'celebrity,'' Clooney said.


Jewel sang her song 'Hole in My Heart' during a memorial tribute to prominent TV figures, including Robert Culp, Soupy Sales, Dixie Carter, Gary Coleman, John Forsythe and 'Roots' producer David L. Wolper.

Al Pacino was honoured as best lead actor in a miniseries or movie for 'You Don't Know Jack,' about euthanasia advocate Dr. Jack Kevorkian, who was in the audience and stood, smiling, at Pacino's request. The controversial physician received scattered applause.

Host Jimmy Fallon opened the show on a musical note, performing a song-and-dance number with the cast of 'Glee' and a wildly mismatched group of celebrities including Betty White, Jon Hamm, Kate Gosselin and Randy Jackson.


British comic Ricky Gervais also presented an award, showing off his newly trim figure in a smart suit


Much of the group ended up on the Nokia Theatre stage to kick off the awards with a high-energy version of 'Born to Run,' with Fallon on guitar.

'Tonight we're going to celebrate your work,' Fallon told the audience. 'So let's have some fun tonight.'

Last year's host, Neil Patrick Harris, was a presenter Sunday and took the time to rib Fallon.

'I want to thank the (TV) academy for allowing a gay man to host the Emmys two years in a row. Congratulations, Jimmy, you're doing a good job,' Harris said, smiling.

Teen heartthrob Justin Bieber has disappointed hundreds of fans by cancelling his Sunday night show in Syracuse, New York.

The singer was due to play at the New York State Fair tonight, but is apparently too sick to perform.

And it looks as if he is rescheduling for Wednesday night instead

Bieber released a statement via his website saying, 'Due to an illness and under doctor's orders, Justin Bieber has been forced to re-schedule his Sunday, Aug. 29 concert at the New York State Fair to Wednesday, Sept. 1, at 7 pm.'

And he took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support.
'Been super sick lately but u guys are carrying me. thank u for the love.'

The pint-sized pop star caused controversy recent by appearing in a racy 'Mrs Robinson' inspired photoshoot for ELLE magazine with 29-year-old reality star Kim Kardashian.

Jealous fans of the singer were outraged when he joked about Kardashian being his girlfriend during the June shoot in the Bahamas.

And despite being beseiged with angry messages from Bieber fanatics, Kardashian couldn't resist Tweeting about it. saying 'I officially have Bieber Fever!!!'

The Baby hitmaker returned the compliment by posting a picture on his Twitter page with the accompanying message: 'Look its my girlfriend Kim Kardashian.'

Justin Bieber recently claimed he is still single and is open to possibility of dating his female fans.

Jimmy Fallon hosted the awards on NBC, which aired live across America after three decades of tape-delay broadcasts for the West Coast.

Hit musical comedy show Glee about a high school glee club was led the nominees at Sunday's Emmy Awards, including bids for best comedy series and cast members Matthew Morrison, Lea Michele, Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. The show was nominated for a total of 19 gongs.

Modern Family was another freshman comedy front-runner, while 30 Rock was trying for its fourth consecutive best comedy series Emmy and Mad Men competed for its third drama series trophy.

Others defending their title included Bryan Cranston of Breaking Bad and Glenn Close of Damages, who claimed drama series acting honours last year, and, on the comedy side, Toni Collette of The United States of Tara and Alec Baldwin of 30 Rock.

The public had a hand in writing some of host Fallon's material. He planned to bring many celebrity presenters onstage with introductions submitted through Twitter.

Other Emmy contenders included Conan O'Brien's short-lived Tonight, which was nominated as best variety, music or comedy series while the show with Jay Leno back in charge was snubbed. David Letterman's Late Show also missed out on a nod, but 2009 winner The Daily Show With Jon Stewart was nominated.

The final season of Lost competed for best drama series and for acting honours for star Matthew Fox and supporting cast members Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson, chosen as best supporting drama actor last year.

HBO came into the ceremony as the kingpin after claiming 17 awards at the Aug. 21 creative arts Emmys, followed by ABC with 15 and Fox with nine. CBS, NBC and PBS each claimed seven.

The Pacific, the World War II miniseries produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, was the top nominee and captured a leading seven creative arts awards, which recognize technical and other achievements.

Ratings for the awards have increased importance: The TV academy's contract is up for renewal with the four major networks that had been airing the show in rotation for eight years, and the academy hopes last year's 8 percent audience increase is a trend after an all-time low in 2008.

The show's live nationwide broadcast and scheduling could be factors. The Emmys typically have aired immediately before TV's mid-September kickoff, but NBC pushed up the awards telecast to avoid a conflict with its Sunday night National Football League games that begin Sept. 12.

But fewer people tend to watch summertime TV, and the 5 p.m. PDT pre-primetime slot for the Emmys on the West Coast also tends to draw a smaller audience.
