I, robot: Heidi Klum gave sneak peek of her amazing Halloween costume at LAVO in New York today

Being a stunning supermodel, Heidi Klum knows a thing or two about making an entrance.

But when it comes to Halloween and playing dress-up the German born beauty really ups the ante.

Klum goes flat out every year to impress with her creative, colourful choice of costumes and manages to guarantee that she's the centre of attention at her annual Halloween ball.

It looks like this year will be no exception as Klum gives us a sneak peek at her amazing costume.

The statuesque beauty is going from supermodel to superhero, fitted out in a red and metallic purple power rangers style body armour.

At 5'9" Klum is by no means short but this Halloween she's guaranteed to be towering over all her guests as she stands over eight feet tall in the costume.

'I like to change things up,' Klum says about her choice of costumes over the years. 'This year is back in New York and my costume is larger than life! I hope everyone will try to out do me! The game is on!'

Arriving in style: Klum came dressed as Lady Godiva in 2001 replete with long blond wig and living, breathing horse

This year will be the eleventh Halloween Ball that the supermodel has thrown and it seems every year it just gets bigger and better.

Klum has chosen Lavo in New York as the venue and the party is sponsored by AOL and Absolut vodka.

It's set to be a star studded event with Eva Longoria Parker, Kristin Chenoweth and Jessica Alba all rumoured to be on the guest list.

Classic cutie with a twist: Betty Boop has never looked so sexy, or scary as when Klum paid homage to her in 2002

Over the years Klum has really gone all out and totally dressed to impress.
She collaborates on her get-ups with fashion designer, Martin Izquierdo. But, although he provides the technical no how he insists that it's Klum who provides the creative vision.

Explaining the annual process of coming up with the costumes he says: 'Heidi usually comes up with the idea of what she wants to be.

'Then I do the designs/renderings. We meet halfway. There is talking and sketching before she starts filming Project Runway in town.

'The first fitting happens before she is done shooting the show and then we fit again around the time of Fashion Week.

Hitching a ride: Klum dressed up as a red witch in 2004 with a rather bony looking friend hanging on for good measure

The designer says that he doesn't have a favourite costume from over the years, claiming: 'Each year, the costume we are working on is our favourite because it's a challenge. It's always our favourite. '

And when it comes to his most challenging costume to date, he says the 2006 sinful apple was the most taxing, explaining: 'Making something comfortable for a pregnant woman -- the apple.'

And when it comes to whether it's better to dress sexy or scary this Halloween, Izquierdo says that Klum is lucky in that respect, explaining: 'Because it's Heidi, everything becomes sexy.

'Even when we did a vampire with a bleeding heart -- which on anyone else would be scary -- on her, extremely sexy.'

Bad hair day: Klum was part gothic rocker part vampiress and part Howard Stern in this 2005 get-up

In 2001 Klum made quite the entrance, arriving on a real life, living, breathing horse, dressed as Lady Godiva, with a twist.

Klum looked stunning in the nude glittery bodysuit, long blond wig and high white boots. To give a little ouch of Halloween Klum trickled some fake blood out of the corner of her mouth - or at least we hope it was fake.

In 2002 Klum gave her sexed-up version of the classic cartoon character, Betty Boop.

Hiding a multitude of sins: Klum found a genius way to disguise her pregnancy bump when she dressed as a sinful apple in 2006, complete with winding snake

Virtually unrecognisable in a curly black wig and heavy glittery red eyelids, Heidi showed off her killer curves in a red-hot cocktail dress and high heels.

In 2004 Klum donned a red witch get-up that involved a long wig, huge floppy hat, go-go boots, a cleavage flashing leotard and a skeleton hanging onto her back.

The next year Klum went vamp, with a twist of heavy rocker. Her huge black curly wig was part goth rocker and part Howard Stern, but her little black leather dress was all sexpot.

Purrrrr-fect: Klum got in touch with her inner feline when she donned this cute cat costume in 2007

Pregnant Klum brought original sin to life in 2006, courtesy of a bulbous apple with genius wraparound snake.

But her best accessory was hubby Seal who was hilarious dressed as a blond-wigged Eve.

in 2007 Klum was obviously feeling a little feline as she wore an all in one catsuit...literally.

The supermodel's enviable curves were displayed to perfection in the form-fitting ensemble.

Co-designer, Izquierdo thinks the kitty costume was the 'cutest ever.'

Feeling handy: Imagine navigating this around the room all night! Klum paid tribute to Indian goddess Kali in this impressive costume in 2008

Heidi really brought it in 2008 with her craziest costume to date. 'This was one of the costume studio's favourites to work on,' Izquierdo says of Klum's elaborate tribute to Hindu goddess Kali.

'Could have been frightening. On Heidi, sexy costume. Period.'

Klum has reflected on her 2009 bird costume, complaining about the cumbersome beak and confessing that poor Seal, who was wearing a matching black crow costume, had some serious issues driving in the get-up to the venue!

Birds of a feather: Klum's husband Seal matched her black crow costume in 2009 - she later claimed he had a nightmare driving in the get-up!
