Serious rehab: Lindsay Lohan checked into the Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, California on Monday nightLindsay Lohan has gone retro.
The troubled star has picked the Betty Ford clinic as her rehab facility of choice as she undergoes treatment, once again, for alcohol and substance abuse issues.
Let's hope the FIFTH time's the charm for Lohan and that this time it sticks.
The Betty Ford Clinic has been a favourite rehab for Hollywood old school stars for many years.
Famous past patients have included Elizabeth Taylor, Gary Busey, Johnny Cash, Kelsey Grammer, David Hasselhoff, Mickey Mantle, Liza Minnelli, Ozzy Osbourne, Keith Urban, Chevy Chase, Jerry Lee Lewis and Anna Nicole Smith.
The clinic was founded by former First Lady Betty Ford in 1982 and is situated in Rancho Mirage, near Palm Springs in California.
It's known for it's tough, no-nonsense attitude towards rehabilitation and not every patient is able to stomach the strict regime, especially pampered celebrities.
Strict regime: Patients are expected to make their own beds, clean their own rooms and even scrub toilets at the facilityJerry Lee Lewis lasted just two days at the facility. Upon his exit he told the National Enquirer: 'When the counsellors told me that I'd have to make my bed and scrub the toilets just like everybody else I knew that I'd checked into the wrong place.
'I'm a rock 'n' roll star, not a janitor.
'In two days I spoke to more psychologists, therapists, counsellors and do-gooders than I have in my entire life.
'They designed a round the clock program of group therapy and one-on-one meetings with counsellors for me - enough spill your guts bull sessions choke a horse.
'Everyone had to get up at 6am and take a morning "meditation walk". After that there was a prayer circle.

'That first day I made my bed, tidied my clothes and went on an all-day series of interviews, talks, evaluation sessions with psychologist, medical doctors, counsellors, and other drug abuse experts.
'As the long, long day wore on I knew this wasn't going to work. That night I was glad to get to bed but I knew I would have to go.

'The next morning I met again with the experts. They laid out the four-week plan of constant round the clock therapy sessions, lectures, drug abuse movies and brain washing that lay ahead.'
It's certainly a change in direction for Lohan. She has previously checked into Wonderland and then Promises in Malibu followed by Cirque Lodge in Utah, all facilities better known for their relaxed attitudes and high quality accommodations than their tough approach to treating addiction.
Lohan will stay at Betty Ford until her upcoming court hearing regarding her parole violation.
It is expected that she will make a plea to the Judge to be allowed to stay at the rehab facility rather than be sentenced to any jail time.
Meanwhile Lohan's estranged father, Michael has declared that he is preparing to go to court to file for a conservatorship over his daughter.
Michael has claimed that he feels forced to file to prevent Lindsay's mother Dina or her manager, Lou Taylor getting control, accusing them of being 'in it for themselves.'
