Sorry Taylor: Kanye West has apologised to Taylor Swift and written her a song ahead of his return to the MTV Video Music Awards next week

It's been a year since Kanye West infamously interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech during the MTV Video Music Awards.

And in an attempt to move on from the sorry debacle, the rapper has written a song for the country sensation.

'I wrote a song for Taylor Swift that's so beautiful and I want her to have it,' he Tweeted. 'If she won't take it then I'll perform it for her.'

There's no word from Taylor as to whether she'll accept the peace offering but it's clear that as this year's awards approach on Sept. 12, West wants Taylor and the world to know that he is really, really sorry.

He's taken to his Twitter account to and cannot seem to stop apologising, amazingly sending more than 70 tweets on the topic early Saturday alone.
'I'm sorry, Taylor,' West Tweeted.

'She deserves my apology more than anyone,' he added. 'She had nothing to do with my issues with award shows. She had no idea what hit her. She just lil girl with dreams like the rest of use.

West has apologised before for the outburst and the fury from Swift's devoted fans that followed. But the

He expressed wonder at how the outburst became associated with race. "Taylor loves rap music,' he said. 'I love country music.'

'Some people's truth is Kanye is a racist...it's not my truth but I do believe it's my Karma.'

But mostly, he took part in a lively wide-ranging debate on the still-raging Swift issue with his nearly 1 million Twitter followers.

'Why are there so many tweets?' he asked. 'Well, this isn't a simple subject. There are layers to this beyond me running on stage.'

'These tweets have no manager, no publicist, no grammar checking...this is raw.'
Beyond apologising to Swift, West also sought to repair some of the damage to his career and reputation.

'With the help of strong will, a lack of (empathy), a lil alcohol and extremely distasteful & bad timing....I became George Bush overnight,' he wrote.

'How deep is the scar...I bled hard...cancelled tour with the number one pop star in the world...closed the doors of my clothing office.'
