Little is known about "Mad Max: Fury Road", but director George Miller has given the press a bit of the much needed update for the fourth installment of "Mad Max" series. In a recent press junket attended by Australia's ABC News, the Academy-Award winning filmmaker opens up about the cars as well as the casting rumors. Inviting the camera to take a shot at one of the rusty post-apocalyptic cars, the 64-year-old explained why it took them so long to move on with another movie. He then switched to address the circulating rumors on the casting, insisting that he is still in the middle of the casting process and there is yet decision made for the leading actors.
Earlier, Charlize Theron has been linked to the lead female role as E! Online reported that the Academy Award-winning is Miller's first choice for the part. Other casting speculations placed Tom Hardy, the Handsome Bob of Guy Ritchie's "Rocknrolla", and Sam Worthington, the star of "Terminator Salvation" among the potential lead actors.
Over the weekend, the Daily Telegraph has reported that "Fury Road" is likely to go into production in Sydney and outback New South Wales in 2010. The report came in around a week after Warner Bros. Pictures officially pulled the plug on the Australian production of its forthcoming adaptation, "Green Lantern".
"Big movies like Fury Road and Happy Feet are rare and competitively sought after in all the filmmaking regions of the world," Miller commented on the location. "The production agreements have been a long time in the making and Premier Rees and his team have worked like Trojans to ensure this substantial investment comes into this country. Not only does it help fuel the local economy but it means many talented people get a chance to practice their craft and lift their skills."
