The "Mission: Impossible" franchise is more than likely to have a new director for the fourth film, "Mission: Impossible 4". During an interview with MTV News, producer J.J. Abrams has expressed what he has in mind over the chance of him returning to the director's seat. "I'm producing with Tom [Cruise]," he said. "My guess is, given other things, that I will not be directing the movie." Further, the 43-year-old opened up about the feature project itself. While making sure he didn't give too much, he did mention that the movie won't be a remake. "I don't want to give anything away yet, but I will say that it's a story that will feel consistent with the world that has been created," he shared. "It's not a reboot kind of thing."
As for the story, the director of 2009's "Star Trek" praised it to be "just so damn cool", adding that he and co-producer Tom Cruise "got so excited about it." Addressing the start of production, Abrams uttered, "My hope is that when the script comes in - the dream would be that we could shoot this soon."
Not much details have been shared regarding the development of "Mission: Impossible 4". Still, it was reported earlier that Ethan Hunt "will certainly be involved in an on-screen capacity." Scribes Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are set to pen the screenplay based on a story producer Abrams wrote with them.
