Dog walker: Catherine Zeta Jones and Figaro the pup go for a stroll in New York City

At first glimpse you might think that Catherine Zeta-Jones is a bit overdressed to be walking the dog.

But in fact the actress had just finished her last performance in the Broadway show ‘A Little Night Music’ and celebrated by taking her pub Figaro for a stroll around Manhattan.

The 40-year-old Welsh beauty looked radiant in a classic red dress with matching pumps and later grabbed her favourite gold handbag to accessorise the ensemble.

She exuded elegance in her glamorous shades and chic chignon, and Figaro was definitely excited to be reunited with the star.

Sunday night’s show in New York was the end of her gruelling six-month stint in theatre, which led her to winning 'best actress' trophy at the Tony Awards for her amazing performance.

Michael Douglas’s other half has constantly been praised and has received rave reviews for her role in the Stephen Sondheim remake of the 1973 classic.

Catherine started playing the role of Desiree in December last year and has been residing in her Manhattan apartment during that time.

Following on from her Broadway success, the former Darling Buds of May star is rumoured to be playing the female lead role in Dali.

The film will be a chronicle of the life of surrealist painter Salvador Dali, which is set to start shooting in 2011.

If she nabs the role, she will reunite with her Mask of Zoro co-star Antonio Banderas, who is rumoured to be playing Salvador Dali, and is set to be released in 2012

But after such a hectic schedule on Broadway this year, the raven-haired beauty might decide to take a summer break and spend some much needed time with her husband, their two children Dylan, 10, and Carys, 7, and of course their little white Maltese puppy.
