Brace yourself, viewers! Myleene Klass shows off metal teeth straightener as she hosts This Morning

Metal Myleene: Miss Klass shows off her brace which she had fitted to her lower teeth, while presenting a pre-recorded segment for This Morning

She has previously said we should all embrace our little flaws and quirks.

But today it seemed that Myleene Klass has decided even she can benefit from a little assistance to boost that famous smile.

Myleene Klass let slip a little beauty secret yesterday as she flaunted braces that are supposed to be invisible.

The television golden girl has always shown off a gleaming set of white teeth that look perfect to the average eye.

But last night, a source close to the brunette told the Mail: ‘Myleene had a brace fitted a few months ago to straighten out her teeth. It is supposed to be invisible as it is fitted behind her teeth.’

Miss Klass, 32, showed her braces while presenting ITV daytime show This Morning outside on London’s South Bank.

And it must be said that she did not seem to find them that comfortable.

The star is believed to have had lingual braces, which fit behind the teeth instead of in front.

They are suitable for adults as well as children and can be used to straighten teeth, align buck teeth and close gaps.

Like traditional braces, they are made up of a series of metal clips or brackets which are bonded to the teeth and threaded together with flexible wire, gently nudging the teeth in the right direction.

Unlike conventional devices they are completely hidden from view, ensuring wearers will never be confused with the brace-wearing TV character Ugly Betty.

Fashion designer Sadie Frost, model Kelly Brook and TV presenter Steve Jones are among those who have opted to straighten their smiles the invisible way.

It costs around £6,000 to make and fit a full set of metal alloy lingual braces, for top and bottom rows of teeth, and they are only available privately.
They are worn for between six and 24 months

There are some disadvantages compared to conventional braces, with patients often finding it harder to eat and many developing a lisp while the braces are in place.

Miss Klass, who has a two-year-old daughter, Ava, with her long-term partner Graham Quinn, has always been extremely open about the pressures women face to look good - and said that she is on a constant quest to make sure that everyone celebrates their 'flaws'.

She admitted recently: ‘The best thing that ever happened to me was that I went to a Paris fashion show and realised these women are from another planet.

‘You can diet your whole life away and you'll never look like them, so you might as well make the best of yourself and what you've got.

‘One thing I've learned is that superficial looks aren't going to carry you through, it's inner confidence.’

She added: ‘We don't celebrate the little flaws and the quirks. We try to iron them all out and be perfect and it's boring.

‘We look to be clones of each other. I don't want Ava to be a clone of anyone because she's perfect as she is.

'What we're deciding is beautiful is just not beautiful. How are you going to know which one is your girlfriend in the queue when you go to the cinema if we're all going to look the same?’

And speaking about the decision to have the braces fitted, Myleene wrote on her blog earlier this month: 'I have just received my new glasses (had my eyes lasered ten years ago but they've totally regressed again…you have been warned!) and accompanied with my 'secret' brace, all I need is for Matthew Wing to dump me and I'll be back to my teenage years again!'
