David Beckham puts his feet up and shovels down a giant pretzel at LA Lakers basketball match

Tasty: David Beckham tucks into a giant soft pretzel as he watches an LA Lakers basketball match at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles yesterday

No doubt he'd love nothing more than to be running around all day training for the World Cup.

But with his foot in plaster, injured David Beckham settled for a spot of comfort eating and a front row seat at the basketball instead.

The England star, who ruptured his Achilles tendon last month, was pictured shovelling down a giant pretzel and slurping on a drink as he watched the LA Lakers defeat the Sacramento Kings 106-100 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles yesterday.

He was joined by his film producer friend Navin Narang and was also spotted chatting with Kim Kardashian's mother, Kris Jenner, who was sitting a few seats away.

It's the second time in as many days Beckham, 34, has been pictured watching the LA Lakers - on Sunday he attended a match with celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay.

However, the pair seemed more interested in comparing their Rolex watches than watching the action on court as they sat in their $2,200 seats.

Beckham's distractions during the game may upset some die-hard Lakers fans, who can't afford the pricey front row seats.

Basketball fans last year criticised some of the celebrity attendees for not paying attention to the game and treating it as a paparazzi opportunity.

The Los Angeles Times interviewed Lakers season ticket holders, who complained celebrities were driving up the price of tickets.

Geno Apicella said: 'Think about it - has anyone ever seen David Beckham actually clap? Do many of these people even watch the games?'

Meanwhile it has emerged that Simon Fuller, who looks after Brand Beckham Limited, will continue to manage the Beckhams under his new company XIX.

Contrary to earlier reports, Fuller is still very much on board with the Beckham brand and has not parted company with the couple.

Official records released yesterday showed that Fuller, the man behind the Pop Idol franchise, had severed links with the Beckhams under his former company 19 Entertainment, which he sold two years ago to American firm CKX.

But a spokesman for Fuller clarified: 'It’s purely an administrative step, Simon Fuller continues to work closely with David and Victoria and will do in the future.'

David and Victoria hired the former Spice Girls manager in 2003 to make their name a global brand after the former singer's efforts to launch a solo music career stalled.

The couple have since released a range of "dVb" branded goods including perfumes and jeans and both have consolidated their fame in the States.

Brand Beckham handles David's earnings from Los Angeles Galaxy and his joint endorsements with his wife.

Beckham is currently on loan to AC Milan from LA Galaxy.
